As a major division within the NHS National Services Scotland, the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service (SNBTS) plays a vital role not only in the health of the people of Scotland but also on an international scale – through our leading position in new product development, biomedical research and donor services. Our goal is to maintain the highest standards to patient care whilst remaining internationally competitive. We are looking for a first level registered practitioner, e.g. RN, BMS or ODP to join our existing team of staff who promote the safe and appropriate use of blood and blood products as part of the Better Blood Transfusion programme through the development of national programmes of education, associated quality improvement and clinical effectiveness initiatives. You will work effectively with limited supervision and demonstrate flexibility in delivering the requirements of the post. A competent and confident communicator and able to adopt a flexible and proactive approach to problem solving, you will promote and champion this national programme at all levels. Candidates should preferably have experience in a blood transfusion, haematology or related specialty. Candidates should be educated to degree level. The post is within the SNBTS Patient Services, Better Blood Transfusion (BBT) team and will be based in the West of Scotland (NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde), you may be required to travel between NHS sites and Higher Education Institutes in order to fully undertake all the duties associated with the post and as such a valid driving licence is required. Access to a car is desirable. The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has worked overseas for more than 3 months will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. Candidates must have current NMC/HCPC registration at the time of applying.
