Role description: Are you looking for a role where you can make a difference? Do you value variety within your role? We are seeking a number of support workers to work within our supported living service in Thetford. The service supports 15 individuals where they live within individual flats. We are seeking support workers who are flexible and able to cope well with change as the individuals you will be supporting all have varying needs, personalities and interests. This makes for a varied and exciting role and could mean you get to experience new things! Some of the hobbies and interests of the individuals include; singing; participating in dance groups; and attending social events. All the individuals ask is that you are able to be pro-active; encouraging and enable them to engage within the community. Our best support workers demonstrate the ability to build true and meaningful relationships; whilst being able to adapt their delivery as necessary to the individual. This could involve anything from supporting with budgeting and housing needs to showcasing your sense of fun at the bowling alley! An example of some of your duties are listed below: Maintaining personal hygiene and care needs Finances such as a budgeting, utility bills and saving for that special thing someone would like to do Helping the person understand any written communications and helping them action them Promoting healthy eating and help with planning, preparing and cooking meals Attending appointments and social activities You will find it extremely rewarding to see the people we support achieve goals, overcome challenges and enjoy their lives by accessing the social activities and day trips they choose. You will need to share our Mencap values and be a caring, positive and trustworthy person who is keen to support adults with a learning disability. Due to the nature of this service; we require you to be available for sleep-ins on a rota basis. Payment for sleep-in s is c ompetitive and compliant with National Living Wage requirements.
