Yoga is a very effective way to get a better life & a healthy body. It's a very comprehensive field which contains various physical & mental exercises. These exercises are very effective in curing various ailments of the different systems of the body. This is basically a connection of mind, body & spirit. It not only provides a healthy body, but is also very useful in offering peace & comfort to mind.


The Indian subcontinent is the birthplace of Yoga. Various saints & seers sent lots of years in research to discover the benefits of this science. They discover various postures or mudras that can perfectly cure various ailments of the mind as well as of the body. These postures improve the blood circulation in the body, thus offering full nourishment to the body cells. This results in providing strength to the muscles & nerves and also to the defense system of the body.

The yoga mythology on curing various respiratory diseases depends on the various "pranayama". It is basically a Sanskrit word which means vital force. For living bees, oxygen is a very important element of life. As per Hindu mythology, our body enterprises of five elements. These elements are air, water, earth, fire & space. So, air or oxygen is definitely the most important element of life. So, pranayama includes inhaling, exhaling & holding of oxygen. It is very effective in improving the condition of the respiratory system.


The inhaling, holding & exhaling of oxygen provide hemoglobin in blood. This is very helpful in providing nourishment to the body. It provides perfect nourishment to the lungs as well as to the bronchioles. This improved blood circulation is very useful in nourishing the lungs.


A very popular pranayama is kapalbhati. In this, the practitioner has to sit on the ground with legs crossed & has to inhale the fresh air forcefully. Doing this will result in providing an abundant supply of oxygen on the body. This provides full nourishment to the lungs & its associated parts. This results in providing strength to the respiratory system.


Another very popular yoga pranayama is anuloma viloma. This is considered as the most effective asan that can perfectly cure various ailments of the respiratory system. In this, the practitioner has to inhale the air from one nostril, then hold the breath & then release the air from the other nostril. This is very effective in curing various diseases of the lungs.
