The school has Academy status but is run far more like a comprehensive and is not part of a chain. Behaviour at this school is now very good and having redeveloped all but one of the school buildings, the teaching facilities are excellent. The science department is led by an exceptional HOD who is keen to share his knowledge and expertise with staff in order to develop their careers to the fullest.
